Our Story

Center Stage Spotlight was built by a founder and her co-founder — who also happens to be her dad.

Wren playing guitar on a log by a campfire while Kat sits at his feet, singing along
This picture is the cover of Kat’s song “What A Life I Had” — posed the way they’ve always made music: him on a log with a guitar, her on the ground at his feet, singing along.

Kat — Founder

Kat is a singer, songwriter, and producer from North Carolina. She built Center Stage Spotlight because being an independent artist meant paying $20 here and $20 there for tools, until doing it right cost more than the music earns. Her own music video cost $65 — and still came back with mistakes she couldn’t afford to fix.

So she built the place she needed herself: a free home for artists, where the fans find you — not the other way around.

Wren — Co-Founder

Wren is Kat’s dad, and the first person she calls for everything. He is a musician himself — guitar is his main instrument, along with drums and keyboard. He had an actual studio back in the day, and he always has a home studio. Growing up, Kat memorized his songs and sang the melodies back when he forgot them. She was his little tape recorder.

He was the first user on the site. He checks every button, asks the hard questions, and believes in this enough to stand behind it with more than words.

If you can’t find him on the site, you can find him in his home studio, doing what he loves.

Why we built it

Everything an artist needs here is free, and it stays free — that is not a teaser, it is the whole point. Post your songs, join the rooms, step into the Listening Room, and let your music find new ears. Real people run this place, real people read every suggestion, and safety for everyone here — especially kids — is something we take very seriously.
